The Radleys - Review

The Radleys By Matt Haig

Details: Hardcover, Paperback, 384 pages
Originally published in the UK July 2010
(Free Press) Published in the US December 28, 2010

Description (Goodreads) : MEET THE RADLEYS

Peter, Helen and their teenage children, Clara and Rowan, live in an English town. They are an everyday family, averagely dysfunctional, averagely content. But as their children have yet to find out, the Radleys have a devastating secret.

From one of Britain's finest young novelists comes a razor-sharp unpicking of adulthood and family life. In this moving, thrilling and extraordinary portrait of one unusual family, The Radleys asks what we grow into when we grow up, and explores what we gain – and lose – when we deny our appetites.

My Thoughts:

The Radleys are just like your next door neighbors but with a big secret. They kept their secret hidden from everyone and wanted to keep it from their children because they didn't want their children knowing that they are Vampires. They wanted to give their children as close to normal life as they can. There are vampires that live like traditional vampires and then the Radleys they have an Abstainer's Handbook that helps them live as close to normal lives as possible. But as everyone knows secrets have a way of coming out and in the worst way.

I love reading about vampires and when I found out about the Radleys I wanted to get started on this book right away. It was well written and held my interest all the way to the end. The character descriptions made it really easy to get to know them. If you like vampire novels this is one that you would want to look into. My rating on this book Is didn't like itit was okliked itreally liked it (my current rating)it was amazing

Read The Abstainer's Handbook
