Description:
Lainie Goff thought she had it all. The ambitious young attorney was brilliant, beautiful, and on a fast-track to a lucrative partnership at one of the top firms in New England. But then, one cold night, a dark and ugly secret comes back from Lainie’s past and she pushes things too far. Soon her body is found, frozen solid in sub-zero temperatures at the end of the Portland Fish Pier.

A mentally ill woman named Abby Quinn witnesses the brutal crime. But when she tells what she has seen, nobody will believe her. Not until she too mysteriously disappears.

In The Chill of Night, Portland homicide detective Michael McCabe finds himself fighting memories from his own past as he races to find the killer before another life is lost.

My Thoughts:

This is my first book that I have read from James Hayman. The author has another book that came out before this one called The Cutting and after reading The Chill Of Night I am most definitely going to check out The Cutting. I enjoyed this read from the first page all the way to the last page.

Unfortunately for Lainie Goff her life was cut short one cold night when her body was found frozen in the truck of her abandoned car. Lainie has had a dark nightmarish past but has since become an attorney in a most respected law firm. Thank goodness Lainie has McCabe on this case and he is quickly on his way to solving her murder or is he. There's a witness but theirs a couple of problems with Abby Quinn. Abby is mentally ill and even thou she tries her best to tell the police what happened they don't pay her no mind. She ends up missing and now it up to McCabe to find his witness before the killer gets to her. Can he do it....... you will have to grab the book and read on.

The author James Hayman does an excellent job at bringing these characters from his book alive, from the main character right down to the tiniest character. I enjoyed The Chill Of Night and I would give this book 4 stars if I had to rate it. It kept me reading on to find out who killed Lainie and why. It defiantly stood up to the price of the book and one that I would recommend to my friends. Mater of fact I have already loaned my book out to my good friend to read and then it will be donated to my local small town library where I donate all my great hardcover reads to.

Description: (From Goodreads)
TWO BRILLIANT AGENTS
FBI Special Agent Monica Davenport has made a career out of profiling serial killers. But getting inside the twisted minds of the cruel and the sadistic has taken its toll: She's walled herself off from the world. Yet Monica can't ignore fellow agent Luke Dante, the only man who ever broke through her defenses.
ONE DREAM TEAM
Luke has the unique ability to put victims at ease . . . professionally, he and Monica made a perfect team. Now they're reunited to catch a murderer who uses his victims' deepest, darkest fears for sport - but their investigative skills aren't enough. Luke and Monica will have to face the secrets from their past, the ones that terrify them the most, if they are to have a future together.
But can they catch a killer whose weapon is . . .

My Thoughts:

Deadly Fear is the first book I have read by Cynthia Eden. It is also the first book in a series with two more to follow: Deadly Heat February 2011 and Deadly Lies March 2011. I was impressed with Cynthia's writing with the vivid details of the characters Monica and Luke.
They really jumped off the pages and out of the book for me especially the serial killer and the murders. This book could be read as a stand alone book but after reading it you will want to get the other two.

I love suspense, action, murder mystery and romance novels and this defiantly has it all. From the first page to the last page you will find yourself moving threw it swiftly to find out what's next. I love a book that will make me keep thinking about it after I had to put it down for a while. I have to say this has been one of the better suspense - murder mystery - romance books that I have reviewed this year. Deadly Fear is well worth the price of the book and it gets an easy 5 stars for me.

Spirit - Review

Spirit By Andrew Feder

Published: January 14th 2010 by AuthorHouse

Details: Paperback, 356 pages
ISBN13#: 9781449023140

US Price: Paperback $19.70 - Hardcover $28.70

Description (From Goodreads):
Randall Lender was a Wanted Man. He was wanted by the Clergy of the Major Organized Religions, the Governments and the New World Order, but that was the least of his problems. After going out of body (astral projection) Randall Lender suddenly found himself in such a paradox where the surrealism meets dilemma. Within this phenomenon of looking through the Hour Glass he unfortunately after leaving his physical body ended up into another's. This was his paradox. This was his dilemma. This was his surrealism. And regrettably for Lender this was the real quantum problem. Randall Lender found himself on an unexpected journey with its twists and turns until he realizes that he must die to live for his return to his former body. And now the elixir of questions remains: What? How? And Why? Then you'll ask why me? Why him? And What If?

My Thoughts:

I love paranormal adventure books and by the description I thought that this might fit into what I would enjoy reading. I have never read anything from Andrew Feder before so Spirit is the first book for me from that author.

The Author places a disclaimer in his books "Due to his Selective Tourette's Syndrome, the following contains some profanity and obscenities that might burn your little eyes and ears. So read at your own risk because this is your last and only warning. You've now been warned... So good luck". I have a cousin that suffers from Tourette's so this book didn't bother me with the language and content that was in it. I would advise this is an Adult book because of the language I would NOT recommend to young adults.

Spirit for me started off slow but still was appealing to me to read on. While I read on it did pick up and it had enough to keep me moving threw the book. Although I couldn't imagine waking up in someone else body but worse that other body committed murder.

Some parts of this book I found myself dragging myself threw it but it was still enjoyable. The author does have some good parts in and also some weak parts. I did enjoy reading the book and even though I thought some parts seemed predictable I found it had some interesting twists.

If I had to give this book a rating it would got 3.5 stars. It wasn't a great read just an okay read for me. However everyone's taste is different and what I find a 3.5 stars you might find a 5 star. This would definitely be a you be a judge book.
